The club

Fees and charges from 01/09/2026

The club has long had the goal of providing affordable sailing for all, and as a member-run, not for profit club we are able to keep fees at a level that keeps the club accessible to the local community. Our membership fee structure easily meets the affordability rule of the Community Amateur Sports Club scheme, and we also provide taster sessions at very low cost.

Everything below is as published by the club for the year from 01/09/2026. All fees are in pounds. Where a table on the old wiki disagrees with the events site or an older page, both are shown and the difference is noted.

Yard fees

Yard charges are calculated to take account of the length of the boat, type of keel, whether multihull, whether parked under cover, whether project status or visitor, and whether using the club's stands or frames.

This is all done using a spreadsheet, which also works out the charges for Wise lift and set down as these are specific to each boat. It is fairer, but it does make it harder for members to understand how their invoice was calculated, so a copy of the spreadsheet (with 2024/25 prices) and a more detailed explainer are available on the wiki.

Trailer boats

Storage of member-owned trailer-sailers and trailer motor boats is subject to space. Their yard fees use the same calculator as cruisers but slightly higher because they do not also have a mooring. They are charged the under 18 month rate as long as they are active (used on the water four times in the year). Inactive for more than 18 months: the over 18 month rate; still inactive after 36 months: the 36 month rate. Proof of activity, such as a time-stamped WhatsApp photo of the boat on the water, is the member's responsibility.

By vote of Council, October 2025

  • Members may stay on their boats in the yard for no more than 15 nights in any 30 day period.
  • Boats may not be plugged in to power overnight without permission of the Yardmaster and subsequent payment for use.
